What is the mission of Netting Nations?
Netting Nations is a California based non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of malaria through the distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, or ITNs. We are not financed or supported by any political or religious groups, but instead we are supported by real people like you from all over the world.
Is Netting Nations a registered non-profit?
Yes, Netting Nations is a charitable institution that has been granted federal tax exemption status under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
Why is malaria the fundraising cause?
Malaria is one of the biggest disease killers in the world. More than 2 million people will die from malaria this year, 3000 children die every day, 90% of those deaths will occur in Sub-Sahara Africa.
What exactly is malaria?
Malaria is a common and serious tropical disease. It is a protozoal infection transmitted to human beings by mosquitoes biting mainly between sunset and sunrise. Malaria is a public health problem in over 100 countries worldwide. Incidences of malaria in the world may be in the order of 300 million clinical cases each year.
How do you get malaria?
By being bitten by malaria-carrying mosquitoes. Not all mosquitoes carry malaria,only those of the genus Anopheles. The organism that causes malaria is the Plasmodium parasite. There are four types but one type, Plasmodium falciparum, accounts for almost all fatal cases.
Where is Malaria?
